Rick Stephens

I am originally from Northern California where I graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Chemistry. I have been working in the chemical and plastics industry for about 25 years and a few years ago started up a consulting company called Mercier & Stephens, LLC. This is one on the web sites. that I created for my company, which needs design improvements. I am currently working on a plant start-up in Baton Rouge. I live in Houston with my wife Liz and redheaded step-child Matthew. I have attached a picture of Matthew since he has probably taught me more about being an adult than any adult.

I have been working on other people's web site for about 10 years. Lately I have been learning about PHP and I want to get into creating dynamic web sites. I am not working toward any degree, but I do want to get Zend and MySQL certified at some point. Even though I have been working with HTML for 10 years, I only have about 3 years experience with CSS. I have taken 2 database classes where I have gain experience with SQL. My main goal for this course is to get very proficient at connecting databases to web sites. I consider myself more of a developer than a designer (extremely left brained). I hope to also get better at design by taking this course.
