There are many types of quality systems out there for various industries and business. At the heart of them all is improving your systems to provide your customer with the most consistent product you can produce. Although the number of systems is large, the one that we know is the ISO system. This is a system that audits your process with an eye toward customer satisfaction. This is why we like this system.
For those who may not know about it, it is a certification that you can get from a registrar that certifies that you follow the ISO standards set forth in by the International Standards Organization. There are a few types of ISO certification that you can get, depending on your industry. ISO has many different standards from environmental to laboratory compliance. The ISO 9000 family is quality management system family of standards. In order to get this certification, you need to make sure that you comply with the standard, then find an ISO approved registrar that will do the actual certification. They will audit about twice a year to ensure that you continue to meet that ISO standard, and are continuing to improve your quality system.
